Last November, Fernández Jove’s engineering and systems division was selected to supply the remote control system of valves and pumps of the icebreaker ship, which is being manufactured in the ASMAR Talcahuano shipyards since August.
The Chilean Navy’s icebreaker ship will have the function of carrying out deployment and support tasks for the operations carried out by the bases and scientific stations that the country has in Antarctica. This project has become the most complex one carried out by the ASMAR shipyards in all its history, being the first unit built by a shipyard in the southern hemisphere.
Fernández Jove will be in charge of developing all the control engineering, as well as supplying and integrating all the cabinets, valves and actuators that constitute the electrical remote control of the icebreaker ship. Moreover, the developed system will allow remote operation of the pumps of the main systems of the ship.
Fernández Jove will carry out the necessary operational tests and commissioning at the ASMAR facilities, together with giving support in the life cycle of all the equipment, attending to the needs that may arise from its activities.
We thank the Chilean Navy and the ASMAR Shipyard for trusting us in a project as relevant as this one, both for Chile and for the rest of the world.
